Checked September 23, 2026. Sources: congress-legislators (official House and Senate records) and the Census Bureau’s ZIP-to-district file for the 119th Congress. Answers change with elections, so check again in the week of your interview.

The same ZIP code answers question 23, question 61 and question 62.

Why the Answer Varies

The country is divided into congressional districts, and each one sends a single person to the House of Representatives. Your district is set by your address, so two people in the same city can have different representatives.

Representatives serve two-year terms. The whole House faces its voters every even year, so the name attached to your district can change between the day you file and the day you are interviewed.

How to Look Yours Up

Go to house.gov and use the tool that finds your representative. It asks for your ZIP code, and some ZIP codes cross district lines, so have your full street address ready.

Write the name down the way you will say it. A first name and a last name is enough. You do not need a title, a party, or a district number.

If You Live in a Territory or the District of Columbia

Puerto Rico sends a Resident Commissioner. The District of Columbia, Guam, American Samoa, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the Northern Mariana Islands each send a Delegate. These members sit in the House and speak there, but they do not get a vote on final passage of a bill.

You have two accepted choices. Name your Delegate or Resident Commissioner, or say that your territory has no voting representative in Congress. Use whichever one you can say without hesitating.

How to Remember Your Representative

Treat this as a lookup you repeat, not a fact you memorize once.

Find the name today, say it out loud five times, and look it up again in the week of your interview. The second check catches any change from an election in between.

Store it beside your other address facts. Your representative, your state’s senators, and your governor all come from where you live, and the test asks about all of them.

What to Say on Test Day

Say the first and last name of your representative. Then stop.

If your home has a Delegate or a Resident Commissioner, say that name, or say that your territory has no voting representative in Congress. Both are marked correct.
