Advertising Disclosure

Anyone reading a study guide deserves to know whether the advice was bought. This page says how CivicsGuide makes money and what would have to be true before anything on this site was paid for.

Where things stand today

This website carries no advertising. There are no ad slots, no sponsored sections, and no third-party ad networks. Nothing you read here has been paid for by anyone.

No link on this site currently earns us a commission. The book is not published, so the mention of Amazon and other booksellers points at nothing yet. When the book is out, those links may become affiliate links, and if they do, they will be labelled where they appear, not only on this page.

Nobody pays for a mention. We do not accept payment, free products, or anything else in exchange for coverage, a recommendation, a link, or a ranking in any guide. If that ever changes, the piece will say so at the top, before you read it.

How CivicsGuide will make money

We would rather tell you now than have you wonder:

  • A paid tier in the app. There will be a free tier you can genuinely study with. Pricing for the paid tier is not final. We will publish it here before launch rather than surprise anyone.
  • The book. A companion book, sold through ordinary retailers.
  • Possibly affiliate commission on the book, if a retailer offers it.

We are not planning to sell advertising inside the app, and we are not going to sell your data instead. See the Privacy Policy for what that means concretely.

What we promise if advertising ever appears

If we do run ads on this site or in the app, these are the rules we are holding ourselves to:

  1. Ads will be labelled as ads, clearly, next to the ad, in the language you are reading.
  2. Ads will never sit inside study content in a way that could be mistaken for a question, an answer, or an official instruction.
  3. We will never run immigration services advertising. No notarios, no visa consultancies, no “guaranteed approval” services, no legal services we have not personally checked. People preparing for a naturalization interview are a target for exactly this kind of fraud, and we are not going to be the channel for it.
  4. Advertisers get no influence over content. Nobody can buy a change to a study guide, a question, or an explanation.
  5. This page changes first. The disclosure gets updated before the first ad runs, not after.

We do not publish sponsored posts. If we ever review a product or a service, we will say plainly whether we paid for it, were given it, or were paid to look at it. Any guide that recommends something will explain why, in a way you can check for yourself.

Editorial independence

Our guides are written to help you pass the citizenship test. They are not written to sell the app. Where the honest answer is “you do not need us for this”, for example that the official USCIS study materials are free and worth reading, the guide says so.
